What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is the systematic manual stimulation of specific zones located on the feet and hands which corresponds and affects all body parts. It is a holistic energy based modality working through the energies of the nervous, electrical, magnetic and chemical systems of the body. It is the use of special techniques that break up and remove blockages in the body and restore proper circulation of blood to any given area. It is a safe natural therapy.

How can I benefit from reflexology?
Reflexology benefits all ages and could bring relief from a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. It has shown to be effective for: Back Pain-Migraines-Infertility-Sleep Disorders-Arthritis-Osteoarthritis-Heart Disease-Sports Injuries-Stress Related Disorders-Digestive Disorders and lowering blood pressure naturally as well as generally revitalizing energy, cleansing the body of toxins and impurities, inducing relaxation and stimulating creativity and productivity.

How is it done?
The reflexology begins with a preliminary talk regarding your past and present and lifestyle. The session then addresses the hands and/or feet so there is never the need to remove clothing (except socks of course). The practitioner applies pressure to the feet or hands primarily, which can induce a prolonged state of relaxation. Through relaxation the body goes into homeostasis or state of balance. This allows the body’s energy to flow freely and it fundamentally heals itself. Treatment last about an hour and reactions vary as part of the healing process: a sense of relaxation and well being, reduction in discomforts, lethargy and so on. Generally maximum benefits occur over three to four sessions (one each week), with a maintenance program of once every four weeks as needed.

The history of reflexology:
The origins of reflexology reach back to ancient Egypt possibly originating in the Roman Empire around 2330 BC.  The “Zone Theory” was the precursor to contemporary reflexology. It began with a Dr. William H. Fitzgerald, M.D. who had researched worked with and written on the subject of Zone Analgesia around 1917. The doctor discovered that the application of pressure on the zones not only relieved pain but also relieved the underlying cause as well. Thereafter Dr. Shelby Riley, M.D. further developed the theory and through extensive research determined that reflexes on the feet were an exact mirror image of the organs of the body. The rest is history.
